Duluth, MN – A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, bringing accumulating snow and hazardous travel conditions through early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, snowfall will begin late Saturday morning and intensify through the afternoon, with the heaviest snow expected from the afternoon into late evening. Duluth, Hibbing, and surrounding areas could see between 3 to 6 inches of snow, while Pine City and Grand Rapids may receive 2 to 4 inches. Northwestern Wisconsin, including Superior and Bayfield, is forecasted to get 2 to 5 inches.

Gusty southeast winds could further reduce visibility, making travel difficult. Authorities advise drivers to slow down and use caution. Road conditions can be checked at 511mn.org for Minnesota and 511wi.gov for Wisconsin.

The snow is expected to taper off early Sunday morning. Residents should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially during peak snowfall this evening.
