Duluth, MN – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon today across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin as heavy snow and blustery winds create dangerous travel conditions. Residents should expect total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with up to 7 inches possible near Lake Superior.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the storm began overnight and will continue into the afternoon. Gusty northwest winds, reaching up to 30 mph, will result in blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility on roadways. Major highways, including MN 210 near Motley, may experience slippery conditions throughout the day. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and allow extra time for travel.

Snow is expected to taper off later this afternoon, but temperatures will drop significantly tonight, with lows around 4°F and wind chills nearing -10°F. Monday’s forecast calls for additional flurries and blustery conditions, with gusts up to 25 mph, further complicating commutes.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will bring much-needed sunshine but bitterly cold temperatures, with highs only reaching 11°F. Another snow system is anticipated by midweek, with a slight chance of snow on Wednesday and highs near 28°F.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates and stay prepared for icy roads and sudden changes in weather. For road conditions, visit 511mn.org or call 511.
