Duluth, MN – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds to parts of northeastern Minnesota, making travel conditions hazardous through early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday for Southern Cook and Southern Lake Counties, including Two Harbors, Grand Marais, and Silver Bay. Forecasters expect total snowfall between 5 and 8 inches, with some areas possibly seeing up to 10 inches. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph, further reducing visibility.

Snow is expected to begin late Saturday morning, with the heaviest snowfall occurring Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning, at times exceeding 0.5 inches per hour.
