DULUTH, MN – A winter storm is set to impact northeastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin starting Thursday night, bringing snow, ice, and strong winds that could make travel hazardous. Snow accumulation of up to six inches is possible in Duluth and along the North Shore, with icy conditions expected on I-35 and other major routes.

According to the National Weather Service, a mix of rain and snow will develop Thursday evening before transitioning into heavier snow overnight. Blustery conditions, with gusts up to 30 mph, could create reduced visibility and drifting snow. Drivers should prepare for slippery roads and delays, particularly in higher elevations and along Lake Superior’s shoreline.

Friday will remain snowy and breezy, with additional accumulations possible in the morning. Temperatures will drop to the low teens Friday night, making untreated roads icy.

The weekend brings a mix of sun and blustery conditions, with highs near 24°F Saturday and 45°F Sunday. Another round of rain and snow is expected Monday.

Travelers should check road conditions and allow extra time for commutes. Stay updated with local advisories and prepare for winter driving conditions.
