Duluth, Minn. – Drivers along the North Shore may face reduced visibility and strong winds overnight as patchy fog and light rain linger through early Tuesday. Wind gusts in Duluth could reach 30 mph by daybreak, complicating travel and causing hazardous conditions on elevated and exposed roadways.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, an 80% chance of rain will taper off before 7 a.m., but visibility may remain limited due to fog, especially near Lake Superior and in lower-lying areas. Breezy northwest winds of 20 mph, with occasional gusts topping 30 mph, are expected to persist into the early morning commute.
Conditions will improve rapidly Tuesday, with clouds clearing by mid-morning and sunshine returning by noon. Winds will gradually shift westward at 10 to 20 mph throughout the day. Highway 61 and other coastal routes could remain slick early, so travelers are urged to use caution and delay departures when possible.
By Wednesday, temperatures in Duluth will climb near 58°F under sunny skies, with a fresh breeze out of the southwest. This marks a shift to a more springlike pattern following several gray and damp days.
Additional rain is expected Thursday afternoon, and wind advisories could return later in the week.
