Duluth, Minn. –Light rain will dampen parts of northern Minnesota late Monday into Tuesday morning, with another round expected Thursday through Friday, bringing minor accumulation but potential for slick travel and slow commutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, rain totals from both systems are expected to stay below a half inch. The first system will bring showers to north-central Minnesota, including areas like Grand Rapids and Bemidji, where up to a quarter to half an inch could fall by Tuesday afternoon. Southern parts of the Northland, including Brainerd and Hinckley, may see slightly higher totals from the second system arriving Thursday.
Roads could become slippery during early morning hours, especially on untreated surfaces. While flooding is not a concern, drivers are advised to allow extra time and watch for ponding on roads. Outdoor plans may be impacted, particularly Thursday night into early Friday.
Both systems are expected to move out by Friday midday, but additional showers could develop over the weekend. Stay tuned to local alerts as conditions evolve and more updates are issued.
