Minneapolis, Minnesota – Thunderstorms are expected to return to Minnesota by Wednesday night, potentially disrupting evening commutes and overnight travel through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, the greatest chances for rain and thunderstorms will occur during nighttime hours beginning Wednesday, especially in southern Minnesota. Showers that persisted through the weekend are tapering off Monday night, making way for clearer skies and a warm Tuesday with highs between 75 and 90 degrees across the state.

Western Minnesota will experience the warmest conditions Tuesday, while low temperatures range from the upper 40s to mid-60s. Rain chances increase sharply by late Wednesday, with storms likely to impact areas like Mankato, Rochester, and the Twin Cities overnight into Thursday. Winds could also pick up during storms, prompting caution for nighttime drivers.

By Thursday night, thunderstorms are expected again, with lows dipping into the upper 40s. Residents should monitor alerts, especially those traveling or relying on outdoor plans midweek.

Showers and storm activity may persist into Friday, and additional watches or warnings could be issued. Stay updated with local alerts and avoid unnecessary travel during storm hours.
