St. Paul, MN – A stretch of warmer midweek weather across Minnesota will be interrupted by a round of showers and thunderstorms expected to develop late Thursday into early Friday.
According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, temperatures will gradually rise through midweek, peaking near 67°F on Thursday. However, the warming trend comes with increased instability, bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning Thursday evening and continuing into Friday morning.
Breezy northwest winds will persist Tuesday, with daytime highs hovering near 55°F, making for a cooler start to the week. By Wednesday, conditions improve slightly under partly sunny skies and highs in the lower 60s. The storm potential increases significantly late Thursday, primarily after 6 p.m., impacting overnight travel and early Friday morning commutes.
Localized rainfall could cause slick roadways, especially across the Twin Cities metro area and surrounding counties. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and secure outdoor items that could be impacted by strong winds or isolated storms.
The system is expected to clear out by midday Friday, returning temperatures to near-normal levels in the upper 50s by the weekend. No severe weather is currently forecast, but updates will be issued as conditions evolve.
