Minnesota – Light rain transitioning to snow tonight could create slippery roads, particularly along I-94 and in western Wisconsin. Commuters are urged to prepare for a challenging Monday morning drive.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will move into central Minnesota this evening, turning to snow as temperatures drop overnight. Snow accumulation could reach 1 to 2 inches, especially west of the Twin Cities. Highs on Monday are expected to stay between 25 and 35 degrees, with partly cloudy skies emerging later in the day.
Drivers should exercise caution on roadways, particularly during early morning hours, when snow-covered roads and reduced visibility may occur. Northeast winds, gusting up to 15 mph, could add to hazardous travel conditions.
Looking ahead, temperatures will plummet further on Tuesday, with highs ranging from 22 to 30 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By Wednesday, a slight chance of snow returns, with highs near 31 degrees and a continued cold front through Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Day in Minnesota is expected to remain cold, with highs near 28 degrees and a 20% chance of snow flurries. This could impact holiday travel plans, particularly for those driving during early morning or late evening hours. Friday will remain brisk, with temperatures struggling to reach 20 degrees.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated weather forecasts and prepare for winter driving conditions. Be sure vehicles are equipped with emergency supplies, and allow extra time for travel this week.
