Duluth, MN – Rain showers are expected to sweep across Minnesota’s Northland today, creating wet and potentially hazardous road conditions along I-35. The heaviest rainfall is forecast east of the interstate corridor, where visibility may decrease during heavier showers, especially as temperatures drop tonight. Commuters and voters should anticipate slick roads and reduced visibility through Tuesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered to widespread rain will persist through today, with high temperatures reaching 44 degrees. As temperatures dip near 36 degrees tonight, areas in the Arrowhead region could experience a wintry mix, with possible light snow that is unlikely to accumulate. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible in eastern sections, adding to potential driving hazards.
By Wednesday, cloud cover will begin to clear, giving way to mostly sunny skies and a high of 49 degrees. This improvement will continue into Thursday and Friday, bringing breezy conditions and temperatures ranging from 48 to 54 degrees. Residents can look forward to sunshine through the latter half of the week, with pleasant conditions anticipated for outdoor activities by Thursday afternoon.
For the next several days, weather conditions are expected to remain stable and sunny, as a high-pressure system settles over the region. Thursday will be particularly breezy, with gusts up to 20 mph. By Friday, temperatures will peak at 51 degrees, and skies will remain clear, offering ideal conditions for weekend plans.
Those heading out to vote today are advised to bring umbrellas and exercise caution on slick, rain-soaked roads. With improved weather midweek, conditions look favorable for outdoor activities and travel by the weekend.
