Duluth, MN – A winter storm continues to move across northern Minnesota, bringing light to heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions. Visibility has dropped to as low as a quarter-mile in areas experiencing the heaviest snow bands. Roads are becoming snow-covered, and officials urge drivers to slow down and allow extra stopping distance.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour are occurring along the North Shore, with a secondary band dropping up to 0.5 inches per hour near the Twin Ports and into the Arrowhead region. Lighter snowfall is expected elsewhere.

Officials warn that wind gusts and reduced visibility could create dangerous conditions for travelers overnight and into Thursday morning. The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists to check road conditions before traveling.

Residents should prepare for additional accumulations and use caution when walking or driving. Snow-covered roads and slick conditions are likely to persist throughout the morning commute.
