Minnesota – A significant weather shift is set to impact the state starting Monday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and potential snow by midweek. The rain will arrive Monday afternoon, with totals between 1 to 1.5 inches expected through Tuesday. Commuters on I-94 and surrounding roads are advised to drive cautiously as visibility may drop during heavier downpours.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Twin Cities, colder air will sweep in Tuesday night, bringing the first chances of light snow. Western Minnesota, including areas near Morris and Alexandria, has the highest probability of snow accumulation. However, snowfall is expected to remain minimal across the Twin Cities metro area.

Monday will begin with a high of 53°F under partly sunny skies before rain develops in the afternoon. Winds could gust up to 30 mph, creating hazardous conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles on major roadways like I-35 and US-52. By Tuesday, temperatures will fall into the mid-30s, intensifying the wintry feel.

Looking ahead, Wednesday could bring scattered snow showers with a high near 37°F. The chance for measurable snow remains low in most areas, but slick roads may develop, particularly in the western and northern parts of the state.

Residents should stay updated on weather changes and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready as colder temperatures settle in by midweek.
