Duluth, MN – A cold front sweeping through northern Minnesota this week is causing significant weather changes, including a sharp temperature drop and widespread rain across the region. Residents should prepare for colder conditions today, with temperatures plummeting 15 to 25 degrees compared to yesterday. There is also a chance of light snowfall north of the Iron Range by Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, temperatures were unusually warm early Tuesday morning, with readings between 55 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. However, by early today, readings fell to the upper 30s to low 50s across the Northland. Areas along U.S. Highway 2 and farther north saw up to a few tenths of an inch of rain Tuesday night, with more expected through Wednesday.

Rain showers will continue throughout the day, particularly in areas north of U.S. Highway 2. Light snow could mix with the rain late Wednesday night into Thursday morning in northern areas, such as the Iron Range. Breezy conditions are expected, with wind gusts as high as 25 mph, contributing to wind chills in the mid-30s today.
