St. Paul, MN — Minnesota is in the midst of unseasonably warm temperatures as highs in the mid-80s are forecasted through Wednesday. Residents are urged to take precautions, as this extended heatwave is expected to push temperatures far above the seasonal norms for mid-September. Tuesday’s high could reach 88°F, with no relief until late Thursday when storms may roll into the Twin Cities area.

According to the National Weather Service, the region will remain mostly dry until Thursday, when the chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase. The public is advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.

Adding to the eventful week, the Harvest Supermoon will rise on Tuesday evening, bringing a partial lunar eclipse. NASA reports the eclipse will be visible starting at 8:41 p.m. EDT, with its peak at 10:44 p.m. Although only 8% of the Moon will be covered, the bright Supermoon will be a spectacle to watch as the skies remain clear.

By Friday, temperatures are expected to cool slightly, ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s, as showers could persist into the weekend.
