Duluth, MN – A fast-moving cold front is expected to bring light to moderate snowfall across northern Minnesota starting Thursday afternoon. Forecasts predict quick accumulations of up to 2 inches, creating potentially slippery conditions on major roadways, including Interstate 35.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow will intensify late Thursday and taper off by evening, with lesser amounts along the North Shore and parts of northwest Wisconsin. Local residents and drivers should exercise caution as reduced visibility and icy patches could impact evening commutes.

Another round of snow is forecast for Saturday night into Sunday, with 1 to 3 inches expected to accumulate. This system may affect areas south of Cass Lake to Two Harbors, with similar impacts anticipated in parts of northwest Wisconsin. Roads may become particularly slick Sunday morning.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly after the snowfall, with highs near 23°F on Thursday and dipping to 15°F overnight. Gusty winds of up to 20 mph could add to hazardous conditions. Friday will see partly sunny skies with blustery northwest winds, while Saturday and Sunday will bring additional snowfall and highs in the low 20s.

Drivers should check road conditions before heading out and allow extra time for travel. Local residents are encouraged to report snowfall measurements to the National Weather Service.

Stay prepared for frigid temperatures and possible delays through the weekend.
