Minneapolis, MN – Light snow will blanket parts of Minnesota today, with accumulations of less than an inch expected in the Twin Cities. Slick spots could develop on key roadways, including I-94 and Highway 169, as snowfall progresses west to east through the afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin after 1 p.m. and continue into the evening hours before tapering off overnight. Drivers are urged to exercise caution during the evening commute as light snow combined with cold pavement could make untreated surfaces slippery. Temperatures will reach a high of 25°F today, dropping to 18°F tonight as the snow clears.

Friday brings a mix of sun and flurries, with highs near 23°F. A second snow system is projected for the weekend, with snowfall likely Saturday evening into Sunday. Forecasters predict 1 to 3 inches of snow, but exact amounts and timing remain uncertain. Sunday’s high will reach 24°F before a plunge to 0°F overnight.

Looking into next week, temperatures will stay below freezing, with highs near 8°F Monday and sunny conditions offering brief respite from the snow.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather.gov for updates on the weekend snow system and take precautions for potentially hazardous travel conditions Saturday night into Sunday.
