Minneapolis, MN – A warm and breezy weekend across Minnesota will give way to thunderstorms Sunday and a sharp temperature drop starting Monday, especially north of Interstate 94.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, temperatures will reach near 70°F on Sunday before falling into the low 50s by Monday. Rain chances increase significantly Sunday afternoon, with the best likelihood of precipitation in northern Minnesota, including Duluth and St. Cloud. Monday is expected to be notably windier, further enhancing the chill as cooler air moves in.

The 5-day forecast shows a brief rebound by midweek, with temperatures climbing back into the low 60s by Wednesday. However, wind gusts and lingering clouds may limit outdoor activities through Tuesday.

Residents across central and northern Minnesota are advised to prepare for changing road conditions and consider adjusting travel plans. Localized showers could reduce visibility during commutes Sunday evening into Monday morning.

The weather shift marks a return to near-average April conditions after an early warm spell. Wind-sensitive activities, such as outdoor construction or gardening, should be adjusted accordingly. Those in areas north of I-94 should monitor local forecasts for updates on rainfall timing and wind speeds.
