Rochester, MN – Severe storms are expected to impact parts of Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin later this afternoon into tonight, bringing the potential for very large hail and dangerous tornadoes across the Upper Midwest.

According to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, multiple corridors of severe weather are likely to develop from late Monday afternoon into the evening hours. Forecasters warn that supercells producing hail larger than 2 inches in diameter are possible, along with strong to intense tornadoes, particularly across southeastern Minnesota, northern Iowa, and western Wisconsin.

A weather alert remains in effect as conditions are expected to rapidly deteriorate, with the tornado threat maximized from late afternoon into tonight. Areas including Rochester, Waterloo, and Madison are within the greatest risk zone, where isolated strong tornadoes and funnel cloud development could occur.

Officials urge residents to stay weather-aware, as storms are expected to move quickly. It is critical to take immediate action when warnings are issued and not to wait until a funnel cloud or tornado is visible. Safety measures include securing outdoor objects, identifying shelter locations in advance, and keeping weather radios or alert systems active throughout the evening.

The Storm Prediction Center emphasizes that the most dangerous conditions could persist well into early Tuesday morning, highlighting the importance of preparation and vigilance across the affected regions.
