Minnesota & Iowa Weather Alert: Wind Chills Drop to -30°F Until 9 AM

Rochester, MN – Parts of southeastern Minnesota and northeast Iowa are experiencing life-threatening cold early Thursday, with wind chills plunging to -30°F.

According to the NWS in La Crosse, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST for cities including Rochester, Austin, and Charles City. Exposed skin can develop frostbite in as little as 10 minutes.

Residents should dress in layers, limit outdoor time, and check on vulnerable individuals. Wind chills will improve after sunrise, but cold temperatures will persist.
