Twin Cities, MN – Minnesota is bracing for critical fire weather conditions on Sunday as gusty winds combine with low humidity, creating a high risk for rapid fire spread across central, southern, and western regions of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 32 mph, will push through these areas, while humidity levels dip as low as 15%. These conditions will be especially hazardous for any fires that start, with the potential for fast-moving wildfires. The Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday evening.

Counties including Douglas, Todd, Morrison, and Stearns are among those at high risk. Residents are urged to refrain from outdoor burning, as fires may quickly get out of control under these conditions. The fire threat is expected to persist into Monday and Tuesday, with similar weather conditions potentially leading to further critical fire risk.

As a precaution, it’s important for Minnesota residents to stay updated on the latest forecasts. Fire Weather Watches and Red Flag Warnings may be issued as conditions develop.
