Duluth, Minnesota – Drivers across Duluth and Superior are facing hazardous travel this morning as dense fog blankets the Twin Ports region, cutting visibility to a quarter mile in some areas and prompting an urgent weather advisory.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for northern Douglas and Carlton counties—including the cities of Duluth and Superior—until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Officials warn that low visibility could make morning commutes treacherous, especially on routes along the Lake Superior shoreline and throughout the greater Twin Ports area.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights and fog lights, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. The fog is expected to gradually lift later this morning, but school buses and early shift workers should use extra caution. Visibility may change quickly along I-35, U.S. Highway 53, and regional roads.

Elsewhere in northeast Minnesota, gusty winds and low humidity could raise fire weather concerns by afternoon, particularly in the Pine Barrens region. Rain and thunderstorms are possible by Sunday.

The Dense Fog Advisory expires at 10 a.m., but more advisories are possible as weather patterns shift later in the week. Stay tuned to local alerts for updates.
