Duluth, MN – Frigid temperatures and snow are set to grip northeast Minnesota this week, with dangerous wind chills and accumulating snowfall expected. Wind chills could drop as low as -30°F in parts of the region Wednesday morning, making frostbite a serious risk for those outside for extended periods.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a cold weather advisory remains in effect for northeastern Minnesota, while lake-effect snow showers are expected to taper off by Tuesday afternoon. By late Wednesday into early Thursday, a new round of snowfall is predicted, with 2 to 4 inches likely across the region. Higher totals are possible near the North Shore, where lake-effect conditions could intensify the storm’s impact.
Strong winds Thursday may create blowing snow and hazardous travel conditions. Gusts could reach 55 mph along the North Shore and Bayfield Peninsula. The NWS warns that additional snow may arrive over the weekend, potentially worsening conditions.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure, dress in layers, and prepare for difficult travel later this week. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and road conditions before heading out.
