Minneapolis, MN – Bitterly cold temperatures will grip Minnesota Thursday night, with wind chills plummeting to as low as 30 degrees below zero. However, relief is on the way as a warming trend arrives this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, dangerously cold wind chills will persist overnight before temperatures climb above zero Friday afternoon. By Saturday, highs will reach the mid-30s, with Sunday pushing near 40 degrees in parts of the region.
Friday will remain cold, with morning wind chills between -15 and -20 degrees before shifting winds bring milder air. The weekend forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Saturday with a high of 34 degrees, while Sunday will see partly sunny conditions and a high near 40.
Early next week, a slight chance of rain and freezing rain will develop Monday night into Tuesday, potentially creating slick roads. Motorists should stay alert for changing conditions.
While the cold remains dangerous Thursday night, residents can look forward to a noticeable shift as the arctic air moves out. Bundle up for one more frigid night before enjoying a much-needed thaw this weekend.
