Minneapolis, MN – Minnesotans are facing dangerously low temperatures this weekend, with wind chills expected to hover near -10°F along I-94 through Sunday evening. The bitter cold, paired with persistent winds, will make outdoor conditions hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high will only reach 16°F, with northwest winds of 10-15 mph creating wind chills as low as -7°F. Overnight lows will plunge to 9°F, with Sunday offering little relief. Highs on Sunday will reach just 22°F, under mostly sunny skies, but wind chills will continue to make it feel much colder.
Residents are urged to dress in layers and avoid extended outdoor exposure to prevent frostbite. Those traveling along I-94 and surrounding roadways should be prepared for icy patches and low visibility due to blowing snow in open areas.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs around 25°F. By Tuesday, a 30% chance of snow may impact the morning commute, followed by a midweek warm-up with temperatures reaching 33°F on Wednesday.
