Duluth, MN – Minnesota residents are preparing for dangerously cold temperatures and snow as Arctic air grips the region Monday night. Wind chills will drop to -25°F, while actual temperatures range from +1°F to -15°F.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Duluth, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northern Iron County. Snow is expected to continue along the South Shore into Tuesday morning. Forecasters predict 2 to 6 inches of snowfall in areas, including the Bayfield Peninsula.

Residents are urged to take precautions against frostbite, which can occur in less than 30 minutes in these conditions. The cold will worsen as winds intensify, pushing temperatures even lower.

By late Monday night, snow will begin accumulating heavily, especially near the lakeshore. Travel conditions could deteriorate as roads become slick and visibility diminishes. Authorities recommend limiting travel and dressing in multiple warm layers.

The Winter Weather Advisory is set to expire Tuesday at 9 a.m., but bitter cold will persist throughout the week. Meteorologists advise residents to monitor updates and stay prepared for additional weather challenges.

For those venturing outdoors, ensure proper clothing and limit skin exposure. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle and check on vulnerable neighbors.

The Arctic front highlights the need for awareness and readiness during extreme weather events. Stay informed through official weather channels to remain safe.
