Duluth, MN – A tornado watch has been issued for parts of northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, including Duluth, until 11 p.m. CDT on Thursday. The National Weather Service warns of possible tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.
According to the US National Weather Service, the watch includes areas such as Ely, Two Harbors, Pine City, and Ashland, WI. There is a chance of scattered hail up to ping-pong ball size and wind gusts of up to 70 mph. Residents are advised to stay alert and monitor weather updates throughout the evening.
The population at potential risk includes over 400,000 people, with 257 schools and 22 hospitals within the watch area. Tornadoes, while not certain, remain a possibility in the affected region, with conditions favorable for storm development.
