Minnesota and Wisconsin are set to see rain today, with light showers expected to impact roadways, including I-94 and I-35, during the afternoon commute. Rainfall is forecast to be less than a quarter inch in most areas, though isolated spots could receive up to half an inch. With cooler temperatures moving in, drivers should be cautious, particularly on major highways.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in the Twin Cities, the rain will begin this afternoon, with peak precipitation expected between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday. Some roads, especially in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, could experience slick conditions as a result. The rain will clear by Friday morning, making way for sunny skies and breezy weather across the region.

Friday will see highs near 54°F with gusts up to 25 mph, bringing a noticeable chill compared to earlier in the week. As the weekend approaches, temperatures are forecast to dip into the 30s at night, though daytime highs will rise back to the upper 50s by Sunday. Areas along Highway 29 in Wisconsin and I-90 will remain cool but mostly dry, providing better travel conditions by Saturday.

Residents are advised to prepare for cooler conditions on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures warming again by Monday, when highs are expected to reach the low 70s. Keep an eye on local weather updates, especially for any sudden changes in rainfall amounts. Check roads before driving, especially on I-35 and I-94, where visibility could be reduced during peak rain hours.
