A chilly start to the weekend will give way to sunshine and rising temperatures across South Dakota and Minnesota. Light snow and flurries will taper off early Saturday, followed by clearing skies and a much-needed warmup through Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, Sioux Falls could see up to two inches of snow overnight before conditions clear by mid-morning Saturday. East Grand Forks, MN, may also see slight snowfall overnight, with winds reaching up to 20 mph. By Saturday afternoon, sunshine will push highs into the upper 40s in Sioux Falls and mid-40s in East Grand Forks.
Sunday will bring even better conditions, with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s to low 60s across the region. Winds will pick up slightly, but overall, a pleasant spring-like pattern will settle in.
Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will remain mild, with highs in the mid-50s to low 60s and mostly sunny skies. A slight chance of midweek precipitation returns Wednesday, but no major storms are expected.
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour on Sunday as daylight saving time begins! With longer daylight hours and warming temperatures, spring is officially on the horizon.
