Fargo, ND – A winter storm is set to bring hazardous snow showers and travel disruptions to northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota tonight. The snowfall is expected between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., with visibility reduced to half a mile at times.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, snow showers will intensify tonight as the system moves south. Drivers should expect sudden changes in road conditions, reduced speeds, and difficulty navigating the evening commute. Officials urge caution and recommend avoiding cruise control in slick conditions.

The storm will continue into Saturday, with heavier snow accumulation expected through Sunday. The NWS predicts 4-6 inches of snow for much of the region, with the highest amounts in localized areas. Blowing snow may significantly reduce visibility, particularly late Saturday into early Sunday. This could result in extended travel times for those heading out over the weekend.

A medium-to-high chance exists for at least 2 inches of snow across affected areas, with isolated totals nearing 6 inches. Confidence in precise impacts remains low, but forecasters stress the potential for hazardous travel conditions.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates and prepare for winter conditions. The snow showers may taper off by Sunday evening, but lingering slick roads could still pose risks.
