Duluth, Minnesota – Minnesota’s stretch of unusually warm, dry weather is expected to end Tuesday night as a cold front brings temperatures back to seasonal levels.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a weak boundary will move through late Tuesday, knocking highs from the mid-70s down into the 60s by Wednesday. Winds will also increase midweek, with gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph Wednesday afternoon across much of the Northland, including Hibbing, Grand Rapids, and the Iron Range.

While skies will remain mostly clear through Thursday, cloud cover begins increasing Thursday night. By Friday, a slight chance for rain emerges, with precipitation probabilities rising to 25% across Duluth, Two Harbors, and the North Shore by midday. Wind direction shifts from southwest to northwest midweek, reinforcing the cooldown.

Travel impacts remain low, but residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items ahead of Wednesday’s breezy conditions. Those heading out for weekend plans should monitor updated forecasts, especially as rain chances may rise heading into Friday evening.

Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly by the weekend, but forecasters say more active weather could follow. Additional advisories may be issued later this week if rain chances increase.
