Snow swirls across southeastern Wisconsin this morning, coating streets and cars under a soft white blanket as plows hum down I-94. Temperatures in the mid-20s are keeping the snow powdery but slick, creating dangerous travel conditions for early commuters in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha Counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. CST. The system continues to bring 1 to 3 inches of new accumulation across southeast Wisconsin, with strong northwest winds blowing snow back across already treated roads. Drivers should expect reduced visibility, snow-covered highways, and slippery bridge decks through midmorning.

By late morning, snow showers will taper off and clouds may briefly lift. However, another disturbance Monday night into Tuesday brings the next round of light snow or a rain/snow mix, especially near the lake. Temperatures will hover near freezing through midweek, increasing the risk of refreeze on untreated roads during evening commutes.

Meteorologists are monitoring a larger Arctic system forming over the northern Plains, expected to push into the Great Lakes region December 11–17. Early models hint at continued lake-effect snow and a sharp temperature drop—possibly 20°F below normal—by next weekend. Residents are encouraged to prepare now for a prolonged cold stretch and potential holiday travel disruptions.

Five-Day Outlook

Today: Snow early, tapering by midmorning. High 22°F.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, high 27°F.
Tuesday: Rain/snow mix possible. High 36°F.
Wednesday: Breezy, chance of snow. High 36°F.
Thursday: Partly sunny, high 28°F.
