Milwaukee, Wisconsin – After a quiet stretch of clear skies Tuesday, much of southern Wisconsin should prepare for potentially strong thunderstorms by Wednesday night, with lightning and heavy rain persisting into Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, dry conditions will hold through Tuesday and most of Wednesday, with highs near 78°F under mostly sunny skies. Storm activity is expected to increase after sunset Wednesday, with a 68% chance of rain and the possibility of strong cells moving eastward overnight. Some storms may contain lightning, gusty winds, or brief downpours.

Cities like Madison, Waukesha, and Kenosha could see stormy conditions develop late Wednesday. Roads may become slick early Thursday, and scattered lightning could pose a hazard for morning commuters and utility crews. Localized power outages can’t be ruled out. If you plan to travel Wednesday evening, keep weather apps active and charge devices in advance.

By Thursday, storms are expected to weaken but may still produce isolated lightning and widespread showers, especially across southeastern counties. The system should move out by late Thursday afternoon.

⚠️ A reminder: more alerts may be issued if storm strength increases. Stay tuned to NWS Milwaukee for updates.
