Nashville, TN – Strong winds and heavy rain are expected to impact Middle Tennessee on Tuesday, bringing gusts up to 50 mph and a low-end severe weather risk.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville, winds will increase during the afternoon and evening hours, with sustained speeds of 30-45 mph and occasional gusts exceeding 50 mph in some areas. Loose outdoor objects may be blown away, and tree branches could be downed, potentially causing power outages. High-profile vehicles should exercise caution on roadways.
Rainfall is expected to total between 0.75 and 1 inch across the region. While the system is moving quickly, reducing the risk of flooding, roadways may become slick, and visibility could be impacted during heavier downpours.
The chance of severe weather remains low, but isolated strong storms cannot be ruled out, particularly in southwestern portions of the state. Damaging winds of 58 mph or greater and heavy rainfall are the primary concerns. The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of Tennessee under a marginal to slight risk for severe weather.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose objects, stay weather-aware, and have multiple ways to receive warnings. The system is expected to clear out by late Tuesday night, with calmer conditions returning by Wednesday.
