According to the NWS, the affected areas will see the potential for severe thunderstorms, with a 40% to 60% chance of large hail and gusty winds. These storms are likely to hit from Thursday afternoon into the evening, primarily in parts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The NWS has categorized the risk as “marginal,” which means that although the threat is present, the storms are expected to be relatively isolated.
