HARRISBURG, Pa. – Central Pennsylvania is drying out Tuesday after a weather system dumped more than two inches of rain over the past 24 hours, leaving saturated grounds and some localized water issues.
According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, the heaviest bands of precipitation were concentrated across the central counties of the state. In contrast, eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia saw much lighter showers, with most areas receiving less than a quarter-inch of rain. The lingering showers in the eastern part of the region are expected to exit later today.
Drivers should watch for any ponding on roads in areas that experienced the heaviest downpours. The weather pattern is shifting, however, bringing a swift end to the unsettled conditions.
A welcome period of dry weather is expected to move into the entire Mid-Atlantic region this afternoon and will remain through Friday morning. Residents can look forward to several days of sunshine and calmer conditions, with no immediate weather threats on the horizon.
