Washington, D.C. – Storms may slow commutes and disrupt summer plans along I-95 Tuesday morning as showers and isolated thunderstorms move into the region.

According to the National Weather Service, a 50% chance of rain is expected in Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas—including Alexandria, Prince George’s County, and Arlington—starting after 7 a.m. Tuesday. Patchy fog will clear early, giving way to cloudy skies and a high near 82°F by afternoon.

Rain is most likely between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., possibly impacting travel on I-495, I-295, and US Route 50. While no severe weather is expected, roads may become slick during the morning rush. Drivers are urged to use caution, reduce speed, and allow extra time.

No flooding advisories are currently in effect, but the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the tidal Potomac and I-95 corridor. Although spotter activation is not anticipated, residents should monitor local alerts throughout the morning.

Skies will clear by Tuesday night with mild temps near 63°F. Sunny, summerlike weather dominates the rest of the week with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s by Thursday.
