Detroit, MI – A winter storm is sweeping through southeastern Michigan, bringing snow, ice, and dangerous road conditions into Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday for Wayne, Washtenaw, and Monroe counties. The storm will deliver between 3 to 5 inches of snow and a layer of ice, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially on I-94, I-75, and local highways.

Snow will intensify Wednesday afternoon, shifting to a wintry mix by evening. The heaviest precipitation is expected between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m., leading to slick and icy roads overnight. Thursday morning’s commute could be treacherous, with lingering ice patches and reduced visibility.

Looking ahead, Friday brings a brief break with partly sunny skies and highs near 25°F. However, another storm system arrives Friday night, bringing additional snow and possible rain into Saturday, just in time for Valentine’s weekend.

Drivers should use extreme caution, reduce speeds, and check MDOT road conditions before heading out. Expect delays, potential school closings, and difficult travel across the region.
