Marquette, MI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Marquette County until noon today, with additional snowfall of 2 to 5 inches expected. Bitter cold and gusty winds will create hazardous conditions, especially for morning commuters on key routes like U.S. Highway 41.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the lake effect snow will gradually diminish in strength throughout the day but not before adding to already slick roads. Tonight, temperatures will plummet to as low as -5 degrees in interior areas, with wind chills dropping into the negative double digits. Residents are advised to bundle up and limit time outdoors to avoid frostbite.

The extended forecast shows frigid conditions persisting through the week. Wednesday’s high will reach only 22 degrees, with wind chill values ranging from -5 to -15. Snow is likely to return Wednesday night into Thursday, with highs reaching the low 30s by Thursday afternoon.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution on snow-covered roads and plan for extra travel time. The NWS advises residents to check updated forecasts and road conditions regularly, particularly as more snow showers are expected by the weekend.
