Detroit, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for southeast Michigan from 1 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday. Snowfall of 2 to 4 inches is forecast, with peak accumulation expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The snow will make evening commutes challenging as untreated surfaces quickly become slick. Temperatures will remain in the 20s, allowing snow to stick to roadways, including I-75, I-94, and other major thoroughfares. Drivers should plan for reduced visibility and longer travel times.

NWS reports that snowfall rates could exceed 0.25 inches per hour during the evening rush, contributing to hazardous conditions. The snow will taper off overnight, but roads may remain icy into Saturday morning.

Looking ahead, Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with highs near 31°F. A slight chance of snow returns Sunday afternoon, with additional accumulation possible into Monday. Temperatures will remain cold, with lows dipping into the teens early next week.

Residents are urged to use caution when traveling and check the latest road conditions through MDOT’s Michigan Drive Map.

• Sunday: Cloudy, chance of snow by afternoon; high near 30°F.
