Marquette, MI – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Baraga and Marquette Counties, with heavy lake-effect snow expected to create hazardous travel conditions from Saturday evening through Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, snowfall totals will range from 6 to 12 inches in Baraga County, with the highest amounts north, east, and along US-41/M-28. Southern areas of the county may see 2 to 4 inches.
In Marquette County, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday for lingering snowfall, with up to 2 additional inches expected. The Winter Storm Warning takes effect at 7 p.m. Saturday and will last through 7 p.m. Sunday, bringing 7 to 12 inches north of Gwinn, with the heaviest accumulation west of Marquette along US-41/M-28.
