Detroit, Michigan – Drivers across Southeast Michigan could face dangerous travel conditions Tuesday as gusts up to 45 mph threaten to topple tree limbs and disrupt power lines through the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a wide area including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Monroe, and Saginaw. Southwest winds are expected to sustain between 20 and 30 mph with stronger gusts potentially causing sporadic power outages and hazardous road conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Cities including Bay City, Pontiac, Port Huron, and Bad Axe are also under the advisory. Loose outdoor objects like patio furniture and trash bins should be secured to prevent property damage. Drivers, particularly those operating trucks, vans, and SUVs, are urged to use extra caution, especially on open highways like I-75 and I-94 where crosswinds could be stronger.

This advisory marks one of the first widespread wind events of the spring season for Southeast Michigan. Crews are on standby for downed lines and emergency tree clearing.

The Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m., with calmer conditions expected by late evening. Further alerts could be issued if gusts intensify.
