Traverse City, Mich. – Rainy skies will finally give way to sunshine across Northern Michigan this weekend, as lingering showers taper off Friday and temperatures climb toward the 60s by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, light rain will persist across parts of the eastern Upper Peninsula and far northern Lower Michigan through midday Friday. Highs today will range from the low 40s to upper 50s, with drier, cooler air moving in by evening as high pressure builds overhead.
Saturday will bring clearer skies and dry conditions, though the air will still feel brisk with temperatures between 48 and 60 degrees. By Sunday, a southerly wind shift will boost temperatures into the mid to upper 60s across much of the region, especially south of Petoskey and inland areas like Gaylord and Cadillac. Cloud cover may increase late in the day, but no precipitation is expected.
Drivers should still watch for slick spots early Friday morning in shaded or elevated areas, particularly on routes like US-131 and M-32. Outdoor plans this weekend should be ideal—just bring a jacket for early mornings or lakeshore breezes.
No additional alerts are currently in effect, but updated statements may follow if rain returns early next week.
