Grand Rapids, Mich. – Showers and thunderstorms will sweep across western Michigan Friday afternoon, bringing gusty winds and wet roads from Grand Rapids to Muskegon before clearing early Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, rain and isolated storms are expected to begin Friday after 12 p.m., with highs ranging from 59°F to 73°F. Overnight temperatures will drop into the 30s and 40s as storms exit the region by Saturday morning.
Travel may be impacted during Friday’s evening commute, especially along US-131 and I-96. Residents in Kalamazoo, Holland, and Big Rapids should prepare for brief downpours and possible lightning.
Saturday brings a shift to drier, sunnier conditions with highs in the low 60s and breezy northwest winds. Overnight lows could dip near freezing in inland areas like Cadillac and Fremont, so gardeners should take precautions.
By Sunday, skies will turn partly sunny across the region with comfortable highs near 66°F.
Storms are expected to exit by sunrise Saturday, but additional updates may be issued if conditions change.
