Marquette, Mich. – A stretch of dry, quiet weather is returning to Upper Michigan tonight, but gusty winds up to 40 mph near Lake Superior may create brief evening hazards before calmer conditions take hold.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, northwest winds between 25–35 mph will impact eastern Upper Michigan and the Keweenaw Peninsula through Tuesday night. Skies will gradually clear, and lows will range from 17°F in interior western counties to 30°F near the lakeshore.

Wednesday will bring a welcome shift, with plenty of sunshine and highs reaching the 40s and even low 50s inland. Along the lakeshore, temperatures will remain cooler, topping out in the mid-40s.

However, Upper Michigan residents should prepare for a wetter pattern returning late Thursday into Friday. The NWS says widespread rain, combined with melting snowpack, could cause rivers to rise—especially in areas prone to minor flooding, such as the Sturgeon and Escanaba Rivers.

Travelers and homeowners are advised to monitor local updates and take steps to protect low-lying property. Additional advisories may be issued as rainfall totals become clearer heading into the weekend.
