Grand Rapids, MI – A mix of rain, gusty winds, and snow showers will impact West Michigan on Wednesday, just ahead of the official start of spring on Thursday. Residents should prepare for wet roads, strong wind gusts, and cooler temperatures as a storm system moves through the region.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will develop Wednesday afternoon, with a 70% chance of rain after 2 p.m. Winds from the south will strengthen, reaching 25 mph in some areas. By early Thursday morning, rain will mix with snow as temperatures drop into the 30s.

Snow showers are expected Thursday morning, with minor accumulation possible. Gusty northwest winds, reaching up to 30 mph, will make conditions feel even colder. Roads may become slick, especially during the morning commute.

By Friday, conditions will improve with mostly sunny skies and a high near 54°F. However, another round of showers is possible Friday night. The weekend will bring partly sunny skies, with highs in the low 40s.

Drivers should use caution on US-131 and I-96, where wet and slushy conditions could develop overnight. Keep an eye on updated forecasts and plan for changing conditions as Michigan transitions into spring.
