Gaylord, Michigan – A line of thunderstorms could drench northeast Lower Michigan by midday Sunday, potentially disrupting travel and summer events along M-32 through Gaylord.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, showers and thunderstorms are expected to intensify between 8 a.m. and noon Sunday, bringing locally heavy rain and gusty winds to Otsego County and surrounding areas. Winds could reach 20 mph, and a 60% chance of precipitation remains in place through early afternoon.

Drivers traveling along M-32 and U.S. Route 131 should prepare for brief visibility loss and slick pavement. Although severe weather is not expected, strong cells could still trigger localized ponding and minor street flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

Sunday’s high will reach near 68°F before west winds usher in drier, cooler air by Sunday night. The rain should clear out by evening, setting the stage for a mostly clear and calm Monday across northern Michigan.

Residents are urged to monitor NOAA Weather Radio or mobile alerts for updates, especially if outdoor activities are planned. Now is a good time to check gutters and secure loose outdoor items before Sunday morning’s storms roll through.
