Detroit, Michigan – Thunderstorms and soaking rains will blanket Southeast Michigan through early Monday, with some areas seeing gusts up to 60 mph and frequent lightning.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, scattered showers will intensify overnight into Sunday, with the heaviest rain expected between noon and 6 p.m. Sunday. Cities including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Monroe, and Flint face a 55% to 75% chance of storms during that window, with rain tapering off into isolated showers Monday morning.
Sunday’s highs will push into the upper 80s across most of the region before a cooldown Monday. Highs drop to the mid-70s to low 80s as another round of light showers sweeps through before noon. While conditions briefly calm Tuesday, additional storms are likely Wednesday and Thursday.
Localized flooding, hazardous lightning, and strong winds may affect power lines and evening travel—especially on I-75, I-94, and I-96. Motorists should avoid flooded roads and secure outdoor items. Residents are urged to monitor updates and prepare for possible power outages.
Rain chances remain elevated through Thursday, with drier air expected by the weekend.
