Marquette, MI – A wet and windy start is expected across Marquette County and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as light showers taper off Sunday morning, followed by increasing gusts and potential rainfall Monday night through Tuesday. Highs will range from 46 to 54 degrees, but strong west-southwest winds may disrupt travel, especially along US-41 and surrounding highways.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s drizzle will give way to drier conditions by afternoon, but wind gusts of up to 40 mph may persist through the day, particularly around the Keweenaw Peninsula. Monday begins with sunshine, but rain is likely by evening, with widespread showers arriving early Tuesday. Travelers should use caution as gusty winds and slick roads may impact visibility and driving conditions.

The five-day forecast predicts more rain midweek, with high precipitation chances Tuesday and Wednesday. Breezy conditions are expected to continue into Thursday, with temperatures cooling slightly to the low 40s. Nights will bring lows from 32 to 39 degrees, colder in inland areas, potentially resulting in frost pockets for early risers.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind periods. Those near Lake Superior should stay cautious as high winds may create hazardous conditions along the shoreline.
