Grand Rapids, Michigan – Spring storms will make a comeback Tuesday night across southwest Michigan, drenching cities like Grand Rapids and Muskegon through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, rain chances spike to 60% Tuesday night with showers and possible thunderstorms expected after 11 p.m. The wet pattern lingers through at least Thursday, with another round of rain and scattered thunderstorms possible Friday afternoon.
Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and slick conditions, especially along major routes like US-131, I-96, and M-6. Winds will also pick up Tuesday, with gusts reaching 21 mph during the day and climbing higher with storms overnight. Isolated thunderstorm activity could bring brief downpours but is not expected to be severe at this time.
Temperatures will trend above average midweek. Wednesday will reach near 72°F, but clouds and rain will dampen the day. By Thursday, conditions turn partly sunny before another chance of showers returns Thursday night into Friday.
No hazardous weather is forecast beyond Monday morning’s brief thunderstorm risk. However, wet roads, gusty winds, and rapid weather changes could still cause delays and minor flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents should keep umbrellas handy, avoid waterlogged intersections, and monitor NWS updates as the storm system tracks eastward.
