Grand Rapids, MI – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for several counties in southwestern and central Michigan, including Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon. The warning is in effect until 11:15 AM EDT.

According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms were spotted moving east at 65 mph, affecting areas from near Fruitport to Zeeland. The storms are expected to bring 60 mph wind gusts and hail as large as a quarter, posing a significant threat to vehicles, trees, and structures. Radar indicated the storms could cause wind damage to roofs and siding.

Residents in the impacted areas, including Port Sheldon, Muskegon Heights, and Dutton, are urged to seek shelter indoors immediately. The storms are moving rapidly, and there is potential for widespread hail and wind damage.

The National Weather Service advises everyone in the affected regions to stay indoors, avoid windows, and prepare for possible power outages.
